About this place
Situated on the 2nd floor of a high-rise residential building near Kachidoki Station, Torizen is a yakitori restaurant where skewers are grilled over charcoal 1 by 1. In a calm interior fitted with a hinoki counter and table seating, the fragrant smoke drifting from the grill stirs the appetite. The signature grilled skewers stand out for their careful timing and balanced salting. Rich, melting liver without any gaminess pairs smoothly with a light tare glaze, followed by crisp-skinned chicken wings, springy kashiwa thigh meat, and crunchy gizzards, each prepared to highlight its natural texture.
The skewer selection extends from chicken cuts like sukimiyaki, cartilage, and chochin to vegetables and distinctive bites including shiitake mushrooms, onion, deep-fried tofu, and grilled konnyaku. Between skewers, diners can pause over small dishes such as toriwasa, fresh yuba, and salted rakkyo pickles. The drinks list goes beyond draft beer and highballs, featuring characterful selections such as Kochi's Kin Tsukasa Botan and Noguchi Naohiko Sake Institute pours served from chilled to hot, along with house-made 20-year aged plum liqueur.
To finish after skewers, the kitchen prepares rice dishes including kamameshi, kiji-don, chicken soup poured over rice, and toricha. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and serves dinner from 18:00 to 22:00 Tuesday through Sunday. Table reservations are accepted, making it a reliable choice for everything from an after-work drink to an unhurried charcoal-grilled meal.
